Description
Hips and hamstrings tightness is a common issue due to incorrect postures. Yoga poses targeting the hips and hamstrings not only helps to prevent lower back pain and to reduce the risk of injury, but also enhances mood and releases emotions. Stretching releases endorphins and activates the parasympathetic nervous system. It is a great sequence to be practised during quarantine.
Begin with child pose, cat and cow poses, low lunge and some gentle hip movements. Move into lizard pose and half split, which give a deeper stretch in the hip flexors, and hamstrings. Follow by a sequence of hip opening poses such as pigeon pose, frog pose, happy baby pose and garland pose. Some gentle twisting and strengthening poses are given as counter poses.
You will feel lighter after the session. Keep practising to reduce the chance of pain and injury!
